Hi, I’m having a frustrating issue with my HP Smart Tank 6001. It works fine on all my Windows machines and my cell phone, but I’m having an issue where it’s not detected on my M1 MacBook Air running the latest version of MacOS. I go to print something through any application, and the printer doesn’t show up, nor can I add it through the settings menu. Now here’s the strange part: HP Smart is installed, and it sees the printer no problem. I’m at a loss of what to do.

If your HP Smart Tank 6001 shows up in the HP Smart app but not in macOS, ensure both the printer and Mac are on the same network, then add the printer to your macOS printer list in System Settings.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
1. Network Connection:
- Verify Network: Ensure both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check Printer IP Address: In the HP Smart app, confirm the printer's IP address and that it's accessible on your network.
2. macOS Printer Setup:
- Open Printers & Scanners: Go to Apple menu > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar.
- Add Printer: If your printer isn't listed, click the "+" button to add it.
- Select Printer: Choose your HP Smart Tank 6001 from the list.
- Choose Driver: macOS should automatically detect the correct driver. If not, you can try installing the HP Smart app driver.
3. HP Smart App Troubleshooting:
- Update HP Smart: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed.
- Remove and Re-add Printer: In the HP Smart app, remove the printer and then re-add it.
- Diagnose and Fix: Use the "Diagnose & Fix" tool within the HP Smart app to troubleshoot connection issues.
4. Other Considerations:
- Firewall: Check your Mac's firewall settings to ensure they aren't blocking communication between the HP Smart app and the printer.
- Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.
- Reinstall HP Smart: If issues persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app.
- Check for USB issues: If you are using a USB cable to connect, ensure the cable is not damaged and that the connection is secure.
