Why does my Envy 6055 shutoff after inactivity?

Hi @KeithM6055,

I'd like to help!

HP printer is designed to reduce power consumption when the printer is not active. Auto Power Off or Schedule On and Off enables the printer to turn off after set inactivity. When you are ready to use your printer again, press the Power button to turn the printer back on.

You may refer to the document to know how to disable the feature-Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly

Keep me posted.

Auto-Off is disabled when a printer’s wireless or Wi-Fi Direct capability is turned on or when a printer with fax, USB, or Ethernet network capability establishes a fax, USB, or Ethernet network connection.

To change the time to Energy Save Mode from the embedded web server (EWS)

1. From the printer control panel, press and hold (the Information button) until all the buttons light up, and then press (i) and(⬇️) at the same time to print the wireless network test report and network configuration page.

2. Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer from the network configuration page

3.Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

4. Click the Settings tab.

5. In the Power Management section, click Energy Saver Mode, and select the desired option.

6. Click Apply.

I can get to that setting from the app.

I have already changed the  Energy Save mode to 15 minutes.

I think I need the ability to change the Auto Off setting. I have tried to change this setting but  I get this message:

Note:
  1. The Auto-Off setting is preset and cannot be configured.

If I turn off WiFi on the printer will I be able to change the Auto Off ?

HP Recommended

It is grayed out because it is connected to the network.

before we turn off the wifi, Perform a power reset and then try and change the settings

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware\
