This subject was queried by someone a long time ago and never addressed. From what I can tell, the issue had been completely skirted with obvious suggestions that any amateur would have already gone through in an attempt to correct any other, from what I could tell, pretty much unrelated, problem. Now, to the issue: Cannot uninstall or repair HP ENVY 6000 series Basic Device Software in Control Panel Programs (Windows 10), because, it says, the config.ini file cannot be found. The file is exactly where it says it is suppose to be (I checked). Attempt to install new software does not overwrite the old software either. By the way, using HP.EasyStart is the best way to normally install HP printer software, I'll give you that. It is not hard to uninstall and reinstall the printer itself (did it many times, including HP Smart) but, it seems, the software cannot be removed in any way, including Revo Uninstaller. The printer works just fine, but I wanted to update to the newer software just because it is, apparently, newer. I've basically given up on it, but I hate to leave something undone that's undone. Any solution? (Just because). RLC

Hi @RLC12,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with the HP ENVY 6055e All-In-One Printer software on Windows 10 is indeed frustrating, especially when standard troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem. The error regarding the missing config.ini file despite it being present suggests there might be a deeper issue with the software's installation or Windows' Installer service. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Use Windows Troubleshooter for Installation Issues
Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can sometimes resolve issues related to installing or uninstalling programs.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Look for the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter or Windows Store Apps troubleshooter and run it.
2. Manually Delete HP Software and Drivers
If the uninstaller cannot remove the software due to the config.ini error, you might need to manually delete the HP software and drivers, and then clean up the registry entries associated with it.
- Delete the HP ENVY 6000 series folder from C:\Program Files or wherever it is installed.
- Use a registry cleaner or manually remove HP-related entries from the Windows Registry (be cautious, as improperly editing the registry can cause system issues). Registry Editor can be opened by typing regedit in the Run dialog (Win + R).
- Restart your computer after making these changes.
3. Use Microsoft's Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter
Microsoft offers a tool specifically designed to fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed.
- You can download the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter from Microsoft's official website. Run the tool and follow the prompts to fix issues related to the HP software installation or removal.
4. Ensure Windows Installer Service is Running Properly
Sometimes, issues with the Windows Installer service can prevent software from being installed or uninstalled.
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find the Windows Installer service. Check if its status is "Running". If not, right-click on it and select Start. If it's already running, try restarting the service.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
