HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer

I received a request from Device, Inc. (apparently associated with HP) to update my computer. I refused.

(1) Is this a legitimate request?

(2) If so, what is the next step?

Hi @PV99,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are looking for information related to an update for your Printer.

If you received the update directly on your printer control panel, then it is a valid update from HP.
Please go ahead and install it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it.

However, you can also install the update by clicking on this link.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

The update (if that is what it was) appeared directly on my laptop as a standard request for permission to make changes to the machine. As noted, the request came from Device, Inc. ; HP was listed also.

It reappeared again later, and this time I said yes: my assumption was, and is that Device, Inc. is legitimate provider of HP content.

My question is whether HP is indeed associated with Device, Inc. in some way that would lead to such a request.

Unlikely, just another questionable site that plants popups on other websites. Always go to support.hp.com if you think you need updates.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by marking my post as an accepted solution. Clicking "yes" on "was this reply helpful" also increases the chances that this solution will help others.
