The printer has been attempting to update firmware but continues to fail.  I am now getting an off network alert but I can't trouble shoot the connection because it keeps trying to install the update.  Printer is now totally non-functional.

Hi @JB111260048

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your printer has become completely unusable because it is stuck in a firmware update loop, To assist you further, could you please share the model name of your HP printer? In the meantime, I kindly request that you follow the troubleshooting steps below:

Restart the printer

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet and turn it back on.

Restore Network Settings (if you can access the printer menu)

  • Go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to your wireless network.

Update the Firmware Using HP App https://www.hp.com/us-en/hp-app/overview.html

  • If the printer reaches the Home screen:
  • Open the HP App on your computer.
  • Add the printer if it is not already listed.
  • Check for and install any available firmware updates.
  • Do not turn off the printer during the update.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
