Laserjet P1005
Chrome OS

Hi all! I have a Chromebook and HP Lasejet P1005 printer. Today I tried installing the P1005 using USB connection, but it didn't work. I downloaded and installed HP Print for Chrome as instructed here. The printer was detected but when I tried to print in Chrome, the following error popup appeared:

Printer software problem

The printer software does not support the selected printer. (and so on)

Is it true that HP does not support many of their Laserjet models? What are my options, do I need to buy a new printer?

Thanks

Hi,

your printer is not supported by HP Print for Chrome indeed, any supported printer is listed below:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03722645

If you have another Windows PC or a Mac computer you may install the printer on it and then share it as a Classic Printer with your Chromebook.

See 'How do I register my non-HP ePrint printer (Classic) with Google Cloud Print?' with detailed instructions:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04122530

If the Chromebook is the only computer you will need to buy a supported printer, there are many such, but much later printers.
