how can I prevent the printer from turning on when plugged in? I would like to turn it on from the button.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

 

The printer is designed for Instant on upon plugging in the power.

 

One suggestion would be to leave the wall socket plug on and use the printer's Power button to power on and off.
