HP OfficeJet Pro 8125e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Printer turns on when connected to power, without pushing the turn on button on the printer. I also change the socket where i plugged in the power cable. So, is this model designed like that or is it malfunctioning?

Hi @AM208

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer turns on automatically when connected to power, without pressing the power button, this behavior can be normal for some printer models, particularly those designed for energy efficiency. However, if this is a new behavior for your printer or if it seems unusual, it may indicate a malfunction. Here are some things to consider:

1. Normal Behavior

  • Auto Power On: Some printers are designed to turn on automatically when plugged into a power source. This feature can help make them more convenient, as they are ready to print immediately after being powered.

2. Power Settings

  • Power Management Settings: Check the printer’s settings menu (if accessible) for any power management options that may control this behavior. Some printers allow you to set preferences for how they manage power.

3. Firmware Update

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can address unusual behaviors.

4. Check the Power Button

  • If the printer does not turn off with the power button or if the power button feels stuck, this may indicate a hardware issue.

5. Unplug the Printer

  • If you unplug the printer and it continues to turn on when plugged back in, it may suggest that the power supply or the printer’s internal components are malfunctioning.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @AM208 ,

1. For new printer models like 8120e, 8125e and 8135e, they came designed to Power-On Automatically after connecting the power outlet.

2. Answering your question:

  • Yes, the printer Officejet 8125e has been designed to Power-On Automatically after connecting the power outlet.
