Printer will connect to MacBook, but will not print wirelessly.

I got this printer yesterday and was able to connect it to my iPhone but wanted to connect it to my MacBook Pro. I went to the 123.hp.com site to download and later install the software. I followed the steps exactly as they were portrayed several times through and was able to select my printer when attempting to print wirelessly (works flawlessly when connected to my laptop by USB) but got an error message saying that my computer was "looking for a printer". It would stay like that for a minute or so then say that it was "unable to locate printer" then repeat the cycle indefinitely. I checked and my Mac does not need an update of any kind. What have I been doing wrong? Did I install the wrong software? Do I need to just do a clean start and reset the printer altogether, and, if so, how do I do this.

The wireless light on the printer, is it steady or is it blinking?

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by printing a network configuration page. In order to print the network configuration page, press the Wireless button  and the Information button  at the same time on the printer control panel.
