Printer will copy. It will not print from my Mac, which uses Big Sur.

I got messages on my Mac that there was malware from my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 . I deleted HP printer from my Mac system preferences. Then I had Mac checked for malware and there was malware.  That was removed and installed new battery into my Mac. Reinstalled (for hours) the HP Office Jet Pro 8600 onto my Mac, but it will not print. The printer can be used as a copier, but not as a printer. I have turned it off, disconnected it from the Mac, disconnected it from power, and reinstalled the printer driver several times.  Still won't print. Help! or should I give up?

@MissMaryland, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I understand you are not able to print from your Mac. To assist you better, do you get any errors while trying to print?

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Follow the steps mentioned in this document.
