Recently bought a new ENVY PHOto 7855 printer. It will not accept the ink cartridges provided with printer nor will it accept locally purchased new genuine cartridges. I do not have an Instant Ink subscription nor do I want one. I feel as if I'm being held hostage by HP Instant Ink that demands I subscribe.

              Hello @WoodysWife,

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You can disable the HP cartridge protection through the internet or non-internet connection options.

For the non-internet connected printers, you must locate the ‘Devices and printers’ option on the Windows control panel, not the printer's control panel.

Next, select your HP printer, click on the ‘Cartridge protection tab’ in the HP toolbox, select the ‘Disable cartridge protection’ option, and save.

Thanks for your reply. I do not see the "toolbox" option when I click on my printer through the Win. Control Panel; Printers and devices. Any suggestions?

          @WoodysWife ,

No, it's the Windows control panel and not the printer panel.

Thanks for coming back.

Hello again- HP printers do not have a toolbox option anymore. You are directed to get Support app. And from what I can tell there is no easy solution to "disable cartridge protection". Printer came with Instant Ink app but the ink is not labeled Instant Ink. Rats.
