GOOD!

Funny, it worked on one IMAC for me (a new one) and not the other.  But, at least I have one able to print.

On the one that doesn't, try this new set/order. I updated it in the last 10 minutes:

Use the HP Uninstaller: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02440673
If you still have a folder marked HP, delete it.

Use Easy Start (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-easy-start/7376041 - make sure your OS is correct) and see if your printer is supported. If not, move on to the next steps.

Uninstall your printer USING THIS METHOD ONLY (NOT EASY START, NOT EASY ADMIN): Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. Then restart your computer.

Download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen... If the link comes up blank, try right/control clicking and saving it. Or right/control click and copy link, and paste into browser bar. If you get the malware warning part-way through the installation, go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy where you can tick a box and unblock the HP option.

The install takes a bit. Let it run, even if it seems like it stalled out! When it completes, restart.

Then reinstall your printer using: Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners, and use the default drivers. If drivers do not show up, download and install the 5.1 driver package from here: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US . Then restart your computer.

Let me know how it goes

Loaded this on my 5258 but nothing changed.  Still can't print.  When I sent any doc to the print queue it reads, "stopped."

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY PRINTER (IT WON'T PRINT) SINCE I UPDATED MY MAC AIR TO MAC OS CATALINA V 10.15.7.

I HAVE CONTACTED APPLE SUPPORT (5) TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION.   HP HAS NO LIVE TECH FOR YOU TO TALK TOO AND THE VIRTUAL ASSISTANT WAS OF NO HELP.

I HAVE AN HP OFFICEJET 4500 G10 PRINTER.   IT HAS WORKED FINE FOR YEARS. VERY FRUSTRATING.  I HAVE GONE TO THE HP SUPPORT PAGE.  I HAVE UNINSTALLED MY PRINTER DRIVER AND REINSTALLED PRINTER DRIVER AND I CONTINUE TO GET THE ERROR MESSAGE THAT THE HP PRINTER (FRAMEWORK) WILL DAMAGE MY COMPUTER AND TO CONTACT APPLE SO THEY CAN ALERT OTHERS.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  TODAY, I REQUESTED TO SPEAK WITH A I SENIOR APPLE SUPPORT TECH AND SHE HAD ME TRASH MY HP PRINTER FILES OUT ENTIRELY THINKING THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.   NOW I CAN'T FIND A DRIVER THAT WILL WORK FOR MY PRNTER.  THE CD THAT I ORIGINALLY GOT WITH THE PRINTER ONCE INSERTED INTO THE DRIVER INDICATES THAT I NEED AN UPDATED DRIVER.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.  I WAS WONDERING IF BRYANCUSTOMPURE MIGHT HAVE THE ANSWER??? I WASN'T SURE IF THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT WERE GIVEN WERE FOR A PARTICULAR PRINTER HP 8100 OR IF THE SAME LINK WOULD WORK FOR OTHER HP PRINTERS?   AT THIS POINT I AM WILLING TO TRY ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

Hi there! I feel your pain!!! I struggled with this as the same happened to me with my office jet pro 7500 series. After searching FOREVER and absolutely no help from HP, I finally found something that worked. Copied this from @BryanCustomPure in this HP community...

The solution is to download (and install) this package which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...

Easy Admin did nothing. Easy Startup did nothing. 5.1 drivers did nothing. This worked for me!

It said to make sure that you choose the generic driver when it asks when your setting up or choosing  your printer on your Mac

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I have tried loading this software but my computer times out before it is fully loaded.  I am hopeful this will work.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...

I will try later in the day I am thinking my connection is too slow right now.  I have gotten up to 100 MB with the load and then it stops and says error occurred.  Ugh!

I think I will end my frustration of a couple of hours and do YOGA!

Bryan/Anyone,  When I try to download the ftp/HP Quick Start link on my Mac it stops about half way through and says "unknown error".  The 5.1 Driver Package does not solve my inability to print with 10.15.7.  (Tried Easy Start, without effect - employed the steps suggested by Bryan, in order, but unfortunately did not work for me.  Any suggestions about how to download the ftp link and avoiding the "unknown error" issue?  Thanks.

I did all of these, with no results. I know the printer works because I can access it from my laptop, which runs a (much) older OS, and that means the cable is OK. The printer is connected to my mac mini USB port, not a hub.

When I download the first software suggestion, the mini asks my permission to get something from my backup hard drive, and I agree. Maybe something odd there?

Now what?
