Hello Glen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let’s do a true clean reset for your HP Envy 5640 All-in-One and your Mac (macOS 15), step by step.

Power reset (important)

  1. Printer ON

  2. Disconnect power cable from the back of the printer

  3. Unplug power cable from the wall

  4. Wait 60 seconds

  5. Plug directly into wall (no surge protector)

  6. Turn printer ON.

Clean reset on your Mac (macOS 15)

Remove the printer completely

  1. System Settings

  2. Printers & Scanners

  3. Select HP Envy 5640

  4. Click – (Remove)

Reset the printing system

This clears all stuck jobs and corrupted drivers.

  1. Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners

  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list

  3. Choose Reset printing system

  4. Confirm

Remove old HP software

Restart your Mac

Install HP Smart (best for Envy 5640)

  1. Open App Store

  2. Search HP Smart

  3. Install and open it

📌 Sign in with your existing HP account

Add the printer again.

Try Print Test Page from HP Smart.

Hope this helps! Glen.
