Microsoft Windows 11

I have Windows 11 on my hp laptop and it won't connect to my printer.  It has printed out access codes for me to connect on 3 occasions and they've failed each time.

Hi @Asia30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure Compatibility

  • Verify that your printer drivers are compatible with Windows 11. Visit the HP Support Drivers page to ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer.

Restart Devices

  • Restart both your printer and your laptop. Sometimes connectivity issues can be resolved with a simple restart.

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure your printer and laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Check the printer’s display to verify its network connection status.

Remove and Reinstall Printer

Remove the Printer:

  • On your Windows 11 PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 4258e printer and click Remove.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • Click Add device.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer back.

Use HP Smart App

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Follow the app's instructions to set up and connect your printer.

Use the HP Support Diagnostic Tool

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP Support. This tool can automatically resolve many printing issues.

Perform a Hard Reset on the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Connect Using WPS

  • If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), try connecting your printer using this method:
    • Press the WPS button on your router.
    • Within two minutes, press the Wi-Fi button on your printer.

Let me know how it goes.
