my HP 6978 will not print black ink.

i have tried the hard reset.

i have cleaned ink heads 3 times.

i did everything the online forums have suggested.

still nothing! My printer is also only a year and a half old. But off of warranty, so it’s pretty annoying that it obviously isn’t a quick fix since This type of thing seems to only happen when I need it most. Gah! If anyone has any other suggestions I will try them!!! Plzzzz

@MyPrinterSucks8, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Since the device is out of warranty, and if this is a hardware malfunction, I may have a few pointers/suggestions to help you out, however, since these suggestions are limited to you and your printer alone, I'd like to send out a private message with those details.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!
