I haver a Envy 6030e printer that used to work fine without an internet connection using only a USB cable. After moving it where I had to unplug the cables it has started whining when I send a print. I will send a print, the printer will change the lights to orange and flash the info symbol. I click the symbol and it prints a whole page about printer information and most importantly this:

Printer not Connected to internet.

This printer cannot print, eaxcept for printer reports. HP+ printers must be connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Reconnect the printer to the Internet to reenable printing

I do not have the option to connect it to the internet.

I have tried factory resetting by opening the lid to expose the catrigdes and holding the power button until it changes colors.

Thanks for the help.

Hi @ErrorMsg404

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The behavior you’re seeing is because your printer is enrolled in the HP+ program. HP+ printers require an active internet connection to print anything other than internal reports. Even if you connect the printer via USB, it will not allow normal printing unless it is online. That’s why you’re seeing the “Printer not Connected to Internet” page when you try to print.

Here are the steps you can follow to restore printing:

/Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer’s control panel, press and hold the Information button until all buttons light up.
  • Press the Wireless button. This will print a Wireless Quick Start guide.
  • Use the HP App on your Windows computer or mobile device to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Verify the connection

  • Once connected, the printer’s light should turn solid blue.
  • Print a test page from the HP App to confirm the printer is online and ready.

USB printing after Wi-Fi setup

  • Even if you prefer USB, the printer must remain connected to the internet. After Wi-Fi is set up, you can still keep the USB cable connected and select the printer in your Windows print dialog.

Avoid factory resets unless necessary

  • Resetting the printer clears saved settings but does not remove the HP+ requirement.
  • If you reset, you’ll need to repeat the Wi-Fi setup process through the HP App.

In short, the printer will not print without being connected to the internet. Once you reconnect it to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, printing will resume normally.

Hi, thank you for wanting to help.

The campus I'm staying at only has WPA enterprise and not personal which from what I can tell the printer does not support.

How can I make the printer not a HP+ printer?

HP Recommended

Thank you for sharing those details. Since the printer cannot connect to WPA enterprise networks and you want to avoid relying on Internet-based printing, the most effective option is to use Wi‑Fi Direct printing

This allows your computer or mobile device to connect directly to the printer without needing a router or campus network.

Here are the steps you can follow on Windows:

Enable Wi‑Fi Direct on the printer

  • On the printer’s control panel, open the Wireless Settings or Network Setup menu.
  • Look for Wi‑Fi Direct and turn it On.
  • The printer will display a Wi‑Fi Direct name (SSID) and password.

Connect your computer to the printer’s Wi‑Fi Direct network

  • On your Windows computer, open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi‑Fi.
  • From the list of available networks, select the printer’s Wi‑Fi Direct name.
  • Enter the password shown on the printer’s display.

Add the printer in Windows

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select Add a printer or scanner.
  • Choose your printer from the list and complete the setup.

Print using the HP App

  • Open the HP App on your computer.
  • Select your printer and send the print job.
  • The document will print directly without requiring Internet access.

This method bypasses the campus WPA enterprise network entirely and ensures you can continue printing smoothly.

Note: Once a printer has been activated as an HP+ printer, it cannot be converted back to a standard model. The HP+ activation is permanent and tied to the printer’s firmware and setup process. That means the printer will always operate as an HP+ device and continue to require an Internet connection for certain functions.

Hi, thank you for the solution. I've gotten it to connect but now a new issue. It says there is an issue with the printer catridges or my account. The catridges are original ones that came with the printer, they are 3/4ths full when I check the advanced control panel but in the HP smart app it says its empty and there is an issue and it won't print, when I try the printer gives me an E0 error. I've tried cleaning the catridges but that did not work.
