Hi @Vonie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see you need help with the printer registration. May I know if are you referring to HP Smart? Or is it related to an instant ink subscription?

May I know if are you getting any errors on the screen?

In the meantime, please follow these.

Update the HP Smart app

  • From your app store, check for and update the HP Smart app to the latest version, which can fix setup or connection issues.
  • Open the HP Smart app in your app store.
  • Microsoft Store (Windows): HP Smart (in English)
  • Mac App Store (macOS): HP Smart for Desktop (in English)
  • Google Play Store (Android): HP Smart (in English)
  • App Store (iOS): HP Smart (in English)
  • Click Update to get the last HP Smart version.
  • If only Open displays, the app is up to date. Continue troubleshooting.

Make sure the printer is ready for software setup

  • Check for any remaining packing materials and make sure the printer is in a ready state.
  • Make sure all packing materials and tape have been removed. Open the cartridge access door and the paper tray to look for and remove any remaining materials inside the printer.
  • Turn the printer off and then on again.
  • Return to the error window in the HP Smart app, and then click Try Again.
  • If the issue is not resolved, select Exit Setup, and then close HP Smart. Restart the printer, and then reopen HP Smart to complete the setup.

Restore printer factory defaults

  • Restore your printer to the default factory settings using the HP Smart app or internet browser to open the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS). Restoring factory defaults can help resolve printer setup issues, connectivity problems, and error messages.
  • Choose one of the following methods to open the advanced settings for your printer.
  • HP Smart app: Click the image of your printer to open the settings and management tools, and then click Advanced Settings under Settings.
  • Printer EWS: Open the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the printer IP address.

Remove and re-add the printer in the HP Smart app

  • Troubleshoot HP Smart app and HP account setup issues by removing and re-adding the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
