Hi @Ineedhelp210,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP ENVY 5052 All-in-One Printer going offline and the scanning feature showing an "unavailable" error can be caused by several factors. Here's a list of troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
Ensure Printer is Properly Connected to the Network
- Verify that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your router and printer.
- Make sure the printer and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Use the HP Smart App or Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS) to verify connectivity.
Reboot Devices
- Turn off the printer and your computer.
- Unplug the printer for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
- Restart your computer or mobile device.
Update Printer Drivers
- Make sure your drivers are up to date:
- Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your HP ENVY 5052.
- Install any available updates.
Check HP Smart App or Windows Scanning Tool
- If scanning from the HP Smart app, try reinstalling the app.
- For Windows users, try using the Windows Scan app:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer, then click Open scanner to check if scanning works through the OS.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website to automatically detect and resolve issues.
Disable Sleep Mode (if applicable)
- If your printer goes offline frequently, disable Energy Save or Sleep Mode from the printer settings.

Reset Network Settings on Printer
- Restore Network Defaults from your printer’s control panel:
- Go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
Check Firewall or Antivirus Settings
- Sometimes firewalls or antivirus programs block scanning features.
- Try temporarily disabling them to see if the scanning issue resolves.
Reinstall the Printer
- Remove and reinstall the printer from your computer:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Remove. Then, add it back.
- Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select the printer, and click Remove, then reinstall.
Firmware Update
- Ensure the printer firmware is updated:
- You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.
After performing these steps, the scanning feature should hopefully function correctly and the printer should maintain a stable connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
