HOw do I send a copy of a document to my computer from my printer?

Copy is a printer function.

If you want to create a copy of the data on your computer, use one of the scan features supported by the printer.

The first scan feature is the one that does not require extra software --

Webscan / Web Scan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software

This option requires a network connection and EWS

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

NOTE: Webscan / Web Scan is not available on Laser printers

If the printer is on the network,

If the EWS feature is available on your printer,

First Time Use Only - Standard EWS - Enable Webscan

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Enable >> Check box next to Webscan

Click Apply to save any changes

Use Webscan

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Webscan 

Set up Webscan the way you want it - for example, set the Source to ADF

Click Start Scan to scan your document / image using Webscan

After the scan is complete, Save the scan to your computer.

Assuming you are running a supported version of Windows, you can use the HP Smart application to scan.

The HP Smart app is run on the computer.

Use the application to scan the content (placed on printer glass) --

Scanned content can be saved, shared, printed, or sent to Mobile Fax (if you have an account for that).

HP Scan - Part of the Full Driver Printer Software

If you cannot -- or do not want to -- use HP Smart,

and

If you are running a supported version of the Operating System / version,

then

Install the Full Feature Software (full driver printer software)

and

Use HP Scan

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

 Note:  Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

• Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
• HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
• HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model
• When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
