I print PDF documents with both Legal and Letter size documents for mortgage company. The documents MUST print on the correct size paper. I cannot get my documents to print on the correct size paper. I have tried everything I have found online and nothing works. I even bought a tray expansion but that did absolutely no good. If I cannot resolve this I will have to purchase yet another new printer. Please help.

Hi @robbjon66,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue. Here are a few steps to ensure that your HP LaserJet 4201 DW prints your documents on the correct paper size.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Printer Preferences: Go to the printer settings on your computer. Make sure that the default paper size is set correctly to match your needs (Legal or Letter). On Windows, you can find this under Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, select Printer Properties, and then check the Preferences tab.
  • Paper Tray Configuration: Ensure that the paper trays are correctly configured in the printer settings. You may need to set each tray to the correct paper size in the printer's settings.

Check Print Settings in Your Application:

  • When printing from an application (like Adobe Acrobat), ensure that the paper size in the print dialog matches the paper size loaded in the printer. You can usually find this under File > Print > Properties or Preferences.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP LaserJet 4201 DW. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with print settings. You can download the latest drivers from HP’s official website.

Check for Paper Size Mismatch:

  • Ensure that the paper size settings in the printer’s control panel (if it has one) match the paper size you have loaded. Some printers have a menu option to set the paper size for each tray.

Use Printer’s Built-in Menu:

  • If your printer has a control panel, navigate to the paper size settings directly from there. You might need to set the paper size for each tray individually.

Reconfigure or Reset the Printer:

  • Try performing a factory reset on the printer, which can sometimes resolve persistent configuration issues. Check the printer’s manual or HP’s support website for instructions on how to reset the printer.

Test with a Different PDF Viewer:

  • Occasionally, the issue might be with the PDF viewer you’re using. Try printing the PDF using a different viewer to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
