I have a MAC PC with the  OS SEQUOLA 15.7.2 and a new Smart Tank 7306 printer.  I use Microsoft Office 365 and I am unable to print in colour as when I go to the print settings the only options available are black and white.  Can this be fixed? RodEast

Hi @RodEast

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how disappointing it feels to set up a new printer and then find that color printing is not available. Thank you for already checking the print settings—that effort is appreciated.

Let’s go through a clear set of steps to help your Smart Tank 7306 print in color from your Mac running Sequoia 15.7.2:

Step 1: Check Application Print Settings

  1. Open your document in Microsoft Office 365.
  2. Go to File > Print.
  3. In the Print dialog, click on “Show Details” if available.
  4. Look for the “Color Options” or “Print Settings” section.
  5. Ensure “Color” is selected instead of “Black & White” or “Grayscale.”

Step 2: Confirm Printer Driver

  1. On your Mac, open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your Smart Tank 7306.
  3. Check the “Kind” of driver being used.
    • If it shows “Generic” or “AirPrint,” color options may be limited.
    • Remove the printer and re‑add it, choosing the HP driver if available.

Step 3: Install Latest Software

  1. Visit the HP support page for your printer: HP Smart Tank 7300 series Official HP® Support
  2. Download and install the full driver and software package for macOS Sequoia.
  3. Restart your Mac after installation.
  4. Add the printer again in Printers & Scanners.

Step 4: Use the HP App

  1. Open the HP App on your Mac.
  2. Select your printer.
  3. Choose Print > Document.
  4. Confirm that color printing is available through this interface.
  5. If color works here, the issue is with the macOS driver setup.

Step 5: Test with a Simple Color Document

  1. Create a new Word document with colored text or shapes.
  2. Print using the updated driver.
  3. Confirm that the output is in color.

By aligning the driver, application settings, and printer preferences, your Smart Tank 7306 should allow full colour printing from Office 365 on macOS.

Thanks for your reply.  The kind of driver is Air Print and I can't find a driver download for my operating system.  When I remove the printer and re add it everything stays the same.  Clearly I don't know how to reinstall the printer.  I am not very good at this so if you have any other points of help it will be most appreciated.

Hi @RodEast

Thank you for the update—and I’m truly glad to hear that color printing has been restored.

Sometimes even small adjustments or reinitializing the setup can quietly resolve deeper configuration issues, especially with AirPrint-based connections.

If you ever run into similar issues again or want to explore installing a full-feature driver for more control over print settings, feel free to reach out.

You're doing just fine—and it's always a pleasure to support your progress.

Thanks again for your confirmation, and we wish you an amazing day ahead! 😊
