Printing envelopes with SmartTank 7605

My SmartTank is not accepting A5 envelopes. I just get an error message saying no paper. What do I have to do?

According to the documentation, A5 is a supported paper size.

That said, it is (to my mind) unusual that an envelope meant to hold A5 size paper would be the same size as that paper.

In general, envelopes are not the same size as the paper they are intended to hold.

If the envelope dimensions are other than a supported paper size

and

If the envelope size you want to use falls within the weight limitations for the envelope paper type,

and

The envelope is "printable" -- that is, it does not include foil lining, scalloped edges, odd colors (the preferred color is white or cream),

Then

The envelope is perhaps printable as a Custom Paper Size form.

Next,

The envelope(s) must be loaded into the printer -- refer to the printer's user guide.

Next,

The printer must be aware of the paper size / type --  Tray and Paper

For a printer that lacks a full service printer control panel, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to alert the printer when you change paper size / type.

Next,

If you are running a supported Windows Operating System / version,

Install the full driver printer software 

The full driver provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences and supports setting Printer Properties to use the installed HP driver and not the IPP / Microsoft print drivers.

Next,

If you are running a supported Operating System / version,

and

If your envelope is other than the dimensions of a sheet of A5 paper,

and

If the envelope size is not already listed in your paper size list,

then

Create a Custom Size Paper form.

Next,

Use an appropriate application / software to configure a print job for your envelope.

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model and EWS version Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Print Envelopes

Envelopes can be of a supported standard size or - if / as supported on the printer model -- a Custom size within the range of "custom sizes" supported by the printer.

Contributing factors include:

• Plain paper
• No scallops, exposed metal clips
• No foil lined
• White or cream color is best 
• Windows -- Word > Mailing > Envelopes printing requires the full driver printer software to have been installed to gain access to the full range of Printing Preferences
• Windows - Custom Paper Size Form -- If /  As needed
• Windows -- Printer Properties > Tab Advanced > Driver should be selected as the installed HP driver and NOT the Microsoft / IPP driver
• Create Envelope - Setup
