Printing a PDF document from Firefox results in a document with part of the header on each page missing and often (but not always) a line printed on the right side of the pages. Printing the same document from Foxit PDF reader results in a perfectly printed document.

Printing from MS Word has the same problem, while printing from Excel is fine!

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

This would be an app issue. Request you to uninstall and reinstall the App.

@Betty0610,

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling the App did not solve the problem.

Before I carried out the uninstallation I checked if the problem occoured om another account om my laptop. I found something peculiar: logged on at the microsoft account I used during Windows installation printing worked fine! logged on on my local account (that I prefer to use) the described problem occours.

This was the case before I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still is.

Then I tried to print (on the same printer and using HP-Smart) from a local account on another PC (Windows 10). To my surprise: flawless!!!

In all cases tested, I opened and printed the same document on the same website from the browser.

I hope this information puts you on the right track to get it working! Please let me know if you need more information or if you need me to carry out more tests!

Thank you!

Best regards,

AartV

@Betty0610,

Thank you for your reply!

While reading trough the steps you described I realised I so far only uninstalled and reinstalld the HP Smart program, I never uninstalled the printer itself!

I decided to try to first uninstall the app and the printer and reinstall both and keep the uninstall / reinstall of the driver as a last resort.

Fortunately uninstall and reinstalling the app AND the printer solved the problem!!

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Aart
