HP Photosmart C8180 All-In-One
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My HP Photosmart C8180 All-In-One is fairly old, but has been in great operating condition for many years.  Recently, it will not print from my computer.  Messages keep popping up on the screen of the printer that my ink cartridges are either expired or not HP cartridges.  I have not had this trouble in the past but recently changed my cartridges using some that were not a HP Product.  My question is:  Is this the reason my printer will not print?  If my cartridges are the reason, if I do order new ones by HP, should this give me the printing I need.  Also, If I only want to print in black, do I need to replace all the other color cartridges or can I take them out and just use the black cartridge?  I appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide.  Thank you. symphony10

Dear Valismot:  Thank you for sending the information to me.  As you can tell, I do not know much about my printer or

how to maintain it.  You  have definitely solved for me what my problem is.  I think the ultimate solution will be is to invest in a new printer, as this one is old, but still seems to be in good shape.   Again, thanks for your help.  Symphony10

To print even in black you need to have installed all working ink cartridges.  If any of the cartridges is empty or expired the printer will not be able to print.
