HP DeskJet 4720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My issue is exactly same as described in https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/No-color-option-in-the-network-printer-pr...

My printer is HP Deskjet 4720. When I setup this printer using the usb cable, I can see the color options in the Printing Preferences dialog but when I set it up as a wireless printer, I cannot find the Color selection options in the Printing Preferences dialog. In my earlier laptop, this used to work just fine. But I tried to set it up in my current windows 10 64 bit machine, and I am facing the above issue.

Tried everything mentioned in the post but nothing works.

I somehow have a feeling that this is related to the driver version. Maybe the latest version of the driver is having some issue with my machine/wireless setup. I was trying to look for an earlier version of the driver (I installed the same printer maybe 2 years back in my old laptop), but could not find one. Tried all kinds of remove, clean, restart and reinstall sequences, nut nothing has worked as of yet.

And the most confusing part is that the usb setup recognizes the color settings but the wireless installation does not.

Does anyone has any ideas?

Can someone provide a link for an earlier version of the HP DJ 4720 driver, just for testing maybe.

Thanks.

Soumya.

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Please let me know the results,

Shlomi

Hi, I did as you suggested. The Print and Scan Doctor utility from the link provided runs to completion with an error prompt which says: Specified port is unknown.

After proceeding, the application suggested that it has downloaded certain updates and needs to restart the computer. I did that and after restart, it does the same steps and gets the same error over and over again. The only change that this procedure does is, the printer displays as a Sacn Only printer from after the first run onwards. Not sure what this means.

But finally, the issue is not yet resolved.
