Using my 8720 printer, when I attempt to enter specific pages to print following the format example provided the printer will not accept the entry.  What do I do to get this function to work?

Hi @frustrated98354,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To print specific pages of a document using your HP 8720 printer, make sure to follow these general steps tailored for typical print setups:

Open the Document: Launch the document you wish to print in your application (e.g., Adobe Reader for PDFs, Microsoft Word for Word documents).

Access Print Dialog:

  • For Windows: Click File > Print, or use the shortcut Ctrl + P.
  • For macOS: Click File > Print, or use the shortcut Command + P.

Select Printer: Make sure your HP 8720 printer is selected in the printer dropdown menu.

Specify Pages to Print:

  • Look for the option labeled either as "Pages" or "Page Range" in the print dialog box.
  • Enter the page numbers you wish to print. Generally, the format should be:
    • Single pages (e.g., 1, 3, 5 to print pages 1, 3, and 5).
    • Range of pages (e.g., 2-4 to print pages 2, 3, and 4).
    • Combination (e.g., 1-2, 5, 7-8).

Check Document/Page Format:

  • Ensure that the document does not have any settings or embedded formatting that might prevent custom page selections.
  • Make sure the software you are using supports page Official HP® Support range printing.

Test Printer Setup:

  • Check that the printer is correctly connected and recognized by your computer.
  • Ensure that the printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the Official HP® Support specific to your printer model.

Additional Troubleshooting:

  • If the print dialog doesn't accept your input, ensure the printer is not set to a default mode that restricts page selection (like 'Full Document' or 'All Pages').
  • Restart both the printer and your computer to refresh their systems.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
