Downloaded the latest firmware OJP8620_1828A.exe and when I run it will not let me select my printer. It says the status is "Not applicable". I'm running the update from a network attached PC running Windows 7 64-bit.
The printers current firmware is FDP1CN1910AR.
What am I missing?
NOTE: When running the auto update on the printer itself it says it has the latest firmware installed even thought that can't be true.

Hi,
Your printer is already up to date and therefore the web update is not applicable, 1910 is a higher version than 1828.
Your printer have the latest update already installed from the web, due to its connection to the internet.

The HP support site shows 1828 as the latest.
This probably explains my real problem though. It probably auto updated and put in a BAD firmware because evidently 1910 is flawed. A little while back the printer started puting out a blank page in between all the pages of a document. For example if the document was 4 pages I would get the first page, blank page, second page, blank page, third page, blank page, and finally the fourth page.
Therefore how can I either back off the bad 1910 firmware or get HP to fix it and put up a new one?

I have the same problem. HP offers the 1828A firmware as a solution to overcome the blockade of 3 rd party ink cartridges that occurred when they rolled out the 1910AR firmware. So it should work. But it does not. In my case the instalprogram recognizes my printer over wifi, serialnr, ip addres, version old firmware but for status it says "irrelevant"or "not applicable".
I cannot select the printer to proceed installing. If it is because the "fix" firmware has a lower number I would like to suggest to HP that they change the version number in for instance "1920AR" so that the firmware will be recognized as an update and newer/higher than the "unwanted" 1910AR firmware. Should not be a big problem. I hope HP will do so soon.
