Hello,

My HP Smart Tank 7000 was working fine until today.

Now every time I send a document to print (I tried from different applications, different types of files, etc) it will remain saying "connected printing".

This problem happens in both the laptops I have using Mac OS.

I uninstalled the printer and tried to reinstall, and then it detects the printer but it says there are communications issues. I am able to connect the printer with IP protocol but then it only prints b&w.

I have reset everything, checked if there was a new firmware, etc. I used chatGPT but nothing is working.

This comes out of the web server:

Product NameHP Smart Tank 7000 series
Product Number28B55A
Product Serial Numberxxxxxxxx
Service ID33137
Firmware VersionSAYAWLPP1N002.2551C.00

Thank you for your help

I found there is a new firmware Dated 2026-03-03 and I reinstalled it.

Now it works fine again from both the Mac computers that had problems previously!!

Hi @idejuan

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I hear the communication issue you are facing with the HP Smart Tank 7000 series on macOS when using Bonjour. Since the printer works with IP protocol but limits output to black and white, the Bonjour communication layer is not functioning correctly. Let’s go through recommended steps to restore proper functionality:

Step 1: Reset the HP App Environment

  1. On your Mac, open Applications > HP App.
  2. Remove the printer from the HP App.
  3. Restart your Mac.
  4. Re‑add the printer using Add Printer > Default tab > HP Smart Tank 7000 series (Bonjour).

Step 2: Verify macOS Print System

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right‑click (or Control‑click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
  3. Confirm, then re‑add the printer using Bonjour.
    • Ensure “HP Smart Tank 7000 series” is selected under Use.

Step 3: Confirm Firmware and Software

  • You already checked firmware (SAYAWLPP1N002.2551C.00).
  • Please ensure the HP App for macOS is updated to the latest version from the HP official site.

Step 4: Network Validation

  1. Ensure the printer and Mac are on the same Wi‑Fi band (2.4 GHz recommended).
  2. Restart router and printer.
  3. On the printer’s control panel, print a Network Configuration Page to confirm Bonjour service is enabled.

Step 5: Test Bonjour Service

  • From your Mac, open Safari and type the printer’s hostname (shown on the Network Configuration Page).
  • If the Embedded Web Server opens, Bonjour is active.
  • Re‑add the printer via Bonjour in System Settings.

Step 6: Color Printing Check

  • If the printer only prints in black and white when added via IP, this indicates the generic driver is being used.
  • Bonjour ensures the full HP driver is applied, restoring color and advanced features.

If the issue persists after these steps, the most effective resolution is to reset the macOS print system and re‑add the printer through Bonjour, ensuring the HP driver is selected. This restores full communication and feature support.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Haws_Eye,

pro

I tried but it did not work.

It is strange, I have 2 mac computers and both have the same problem.

In one of them I deleted the printer and now it is impossible to install it again. There is the problem explained in my post.

In the other Mac the printer is still there, I did not delete it, but every time I try to print anything it says

"Printing 1 of 2, The printer is in use" and the blue bar is moving from one side to the other, but it never starts printing.

I tried restarting the router and the server.

The printer is reachable in the Web server 192.162.1.88 and everything looks good there, Bonjour activated and everything..

On the other hand I have a Windows computer, and it is connecting and printing perfectly.

Any ideas?
