Hi @salva__,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Let's troubleshoot the issue with installing drivers for your HP Deskjet 2050 printer. The error message you mentioned indicates a problem with Plug and Play, which can be due to various reasons, including corrupted drivers, missing system files, or conflicts with other installed software.

Here are some steps to resolve the issue.

Uninstall the Current Printer Driver

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Devices and Printers.
  3. Find your HP Deskjet 2050 printer, right-click on it, and select Remove device.
  4. Go to Device Manager (you can find this by searching in the Start menu).
  5. In Device Manager, expand Printers or Print queues, right-click on your HP Deskjet 2050, and select Uninstall device.
  6. Restart your computer.

Clean Boot Your Computer

  1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
  3. Check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
  4. Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
  5. In Task Manager, disable all startup items.
  6. Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.
  7. Restart your computer.

Download and Install the Latest Driver

  1. Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter your printer model (HP Deskjet 2050) and select the correct operating system.
  3. Download the latest driver package.
  4. Install the driver following the on-screen instructions.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security and click on Check for updates.
  3. Install any available updates and restart your computer if necessary.

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
  2. Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix issues with your printer.

Reinstall Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Go to System Devices and find Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator.
  3. Right-click on it and select Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the device.

Check for Conflicting Devices or Software

  1. Disconnect all unnecessary peripherals from your computer.
  2. Temporarily disable or uninstall any third-party antivirus or firewall software.
  3. Try installing the driver again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

I am having the same issue as @salva. I tried everything on the thread and nothing. It also did not let me uninstall the Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator so I don't know what to do next. Any help is appreciated.
