Microsoft Windows 11

When I try to print from Windows 11 Photos and choose more settings the box comes up, the loading wheel shows and then it just goes blank.  What is the problem here? It's fine if I don't print via the HP Smart app so the printer is connected via WiFi ohouhugg.png

Hi @charlongo79,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing the "More Settings" box going blank when trying to print from Windows 11 Photos on your HP Envy Inspire 7900 may be due to a software conflict or outdated drivers. Here's how to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Update Printer Drivers

Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Envy Inspire 7900.

  • Download the latest drivers:
    • Go to the HP support website and search for your printer model.
    • Download and install the latest drivers and firmware for your printer.
  • After installing the drivers, restart your computer and try printing again.

2. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, compatibility issues between Windows 11 and printer drivers can cause problems like this. Ensure your system is up to date:

  • Steps:
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
    • Install any updates and restart your computer.

3. Run Windows Troubleshooter

Windows has built-in troubleshooting tools that might detect and fix printing issues.

  • Steps:
    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Printer troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

4. Reinstall HP Smart App

If the issue only occurs when printing via HP Smart, try reinstalling the app:

  • Steps:

5. Use Windows Default Print Dialog

Since printing works fine outside of HP Smart, try using the Windows default print dialog instead of HP Smart for printing tasks:

  • Steps:
    • Right-click the file you want to print.
    • Select Print, and choose your printer.
    • Avoid opening the HP Smart app and see if it resolves the issue.

6. Clear Print Queue and Reset the Printer

  • Sometimes clearing the print queue and resetting the printer can fix the issue.
  • Steps:
    • Turn off your printer.
    • Clear the print queue from Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Select your printer > Open queue > Cancel all documents.
    • Turn the printer back on and try printing again.
