I have a MacBook with macOS 15.5 Sequoia and an old HP LaserJet P1102 printer. I'm trying to set it up with the MacBook, but I can't find the drivers for my software. When I connect the printer to my computer, I get the message "The attached disk is not readable by this computer." What can I do?

Thanks for the reply. After the selection window appears, I choose the "Ignore" option and try to add the printer through system settings, but the computer doesn't find it. I tried to find a driver for the 15.5" MacBook, but there aren't any on the official HP website. I also installed the HP program, but it's also having trouble finding the printer. I should add that the printer prints via the same cable on another old Windows computer, but I want to configure it on the MacBook as well. Please send me a link to the latest driver.

Hi @marchewi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for your patience. You're absolutely right, HP has not released an official driver for the HP LaserJet P1102 that supports macOS 15.5 Sequoia, which is why you're seeing the “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer” error when connecting via USB.

Solution: Install HP LaserJet P1102 on macOS 15.5 Sequoia

Option 1:   Use HP Easy Start

If you prefer a simpler method:

  1. Go to HP LaserJet Pro P1102 Printer series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
  2. Download and run HP Easy Start
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer

Note: HP Easy Start may still fail if it detects macOS 15.5 as unsupported, but it’s worth trying before the manual workaround.

Option 2: Use AirPrint or Generic Driver

If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi (P1102w model), macOS may auto-detect it using AirPrint:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Click Add Printer
  • Select your printer and choose “Use: AirPrint” or “Generic PostScript Printer”

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
