Windows Update has attention required because problem with update for HP - Printer - 20.80.3.9568. Gives Install error - 0x800f020b. I have checked other posts with the same problem but none have a solution. I have cleared the SoftwareDistribution/Download folder, restarted and did update again. I watched as the HP files were downloaded and the install start. Failed with same error.
HP Smart claims my printer is up to date. Please someone give a solution.

I investigated this further. Located update on Microsoft Update Catalog and checked files being updated. Appeared to be for Deskjet 3830 which I no longer have installed. Went to printer drivers and found it still included driver for 3830. I deleted this. I also cleared SoftwareDistribribution/Download folder, rebooted and tried Windows Update again. There was no mention of the HP update and the process completed successfully.

Hi @hughgee,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Hi,
I went through the listed steps but also did software update for HP Easy Start setup again. This did get HP Smart app working properly. I couldn't get into Advanced Settings, it said EWS not available. I can now get into Advanced Settings. Checked firmware, that was up to date. I did Windows Update again, having first cleared SoftwareDistribution/Download to ensure any files resent. HP update was downloaded but still failed to install.
Haven't really gained much.
