LaserJet Pro M118

Since downloading MacOS 12 (Monterey), my printer is no longer able to communicate with the laptop. It was working fine before this (in OS 11), so I know it is a software issue. When I try to download the updated OS 12 driver, it gets stuck in the "spinning wheel of death" mode.

I understand you are trying to install the printer driver on your Mac. To assist you better,

Are you using an HP LaserJet Pro M118dw printer?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

 

How is the printer connected to the Mac?

 

The printer driver is available via the HP Easy Start app from the HP Support site. Click here to download the same.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Appreciate the feedback. But I know how to do all that. What I am saying is that the OS12 driver will not download. It gets to the point of retrieving the software and gets stuck in an endless loop...

In this case, did you try to install the printer using the AirPrint driver?

 

Check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners. 

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer. 

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list. 

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name. 

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add. 

Note: Select "Bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing.

 

Try printing.
