installing drive software for HP Envy 7100 all in one. I get a window for HP Product Improvement Study that asks for how I use HP Products (primarily for personal use. There is a box with a cursor that will only allow me to enter a number, but it doesn't matter what number I type, it will not allow me to continue and I cannot complete the installation. I desperately need to be able to scan soon. Feels like I am in the twilight zone.

We understand you're attempting to install driver software for your HP Envy 7100 All-in-One printer, but are getting stuck on the HP Product Improvement Study screen, where you're prompted to enter a number (e.g., for how you use HP products), and the installer will not allow you to proceed, Sorry to hear about the trouble.
Please try the following workaround and alternate installation method:
1: Use HP Smart App (Recommended for Most Users)
- Download and install the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store:
🔗 HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store - Once installed, open HP Smart.
- Click Add Printer, then follow the steps to connect your HP Envy 7100.
- HP Smart includes full scan, print, copy, and maintenance tools — no driver installation dialogs are needed.
- Try scanning from HP Smart > Scan tab.
Option 2: Manually Install the Full Software Without Prompt
If you prefer to use the traditional driver package:
- Go to the official HP driver page:

- Before running the installer, disconnect the printer if connected to USB and turn off the printer.
- Right-click the installer > Run as administrator
- During installation, if the HP Product Improvement Study screen appears:
- Try entering “0” (zero) and immediately pressing Enter or clicking Next
- If it still freezes, press Alt + Tab to shift focus and try selecting Next again
- If that doesn’t help, cancel the installer and proceed to Option 1 above
