HP Recommended

I, too, had an issue with my HP printer stopping a print function.  It worked fine on Monday but on Thursday would no longer work.  I tried everything I knew to do but to no avail.  My computer was only a month old and I was in real need of printing documents for an appointment.  I contacted HP support by using the HP Smart hub that was part of the initial download for the HP printer.  I chose Support and did a virtual chat. The system was unable to help with my problem and said it would connect me with their Customer Service.  I proceeded to talk with them but it was difficult to understand their speech.  I foolishly trusted that I was speaking to a real HP customer service rep and agreed to allow them to see my computer remotely.  The rep was full of promises and reassurance that he could fix my problem.  After a pause, he came back on the line and said it looked like my computer had a virus that was affecting the printer function.  I heard other voices in the background telling other people that "oh yes it is a virus" so I knew this wasn't a good thing.  I asked him why I heard that phrase and he didn't respond to that question.  He then said that he could permanently fix my computer for $149.  I told him to stop the call and I disconnected his call.  I had to change all my passwords, bank and card info.  Since that time, I've had two instances of an attempt to use my credit cards to make online purchases.  I used their system and prompts to get help.  I cannot understand how their system support could route me to a scammer but that is what happened.  I did manage to get some screenshots of their company "Aweray".   I will never buy another HP product. Terrible experience.  Buyer beware!!
