Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi,

My printer stopped working with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Publisher. I found that the printer kept showing as being Offline on my computer, but I could still print PDF documents... On the HP Smart app everything showed as working so I did a diagnostic which showed no problem. I used HP Print an Scan doctor which showed everything was working... but I could not print the test page. Only an internal test page would print. The app told me that is was a computer software problem and that I should uninstall and reinstall the printer with the latest drivers and software.

I went to HP online and tried to install the latest drivers etc. but is said that they were already installed, so I went ahead and uninstalled the printer from by computer... so far, so good.

I have now been trying for over 4 hours to get anything to recognize anything else. The computer wasn't "seeing" the printer, so I was told to turn the printer off. Now the printer when I turn it back on comes up with a message saying "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink. If I press the Hide button, which is the only option available on the printers screen it comes up with a message about aligning the printhead. If I press Continue it just has the rotating circle icon that continually goes around and around - forever - with absolutely nothing else happening. The wifi light on the printer is flashing blue 2 flashes, a pause then 2 flashes and so on. I can't reconnect the printer to the Wifi network unless I can get to the home page, but I can't get to the homepage.

The idea of throwing the thing out of the window is looking good right now.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi @BowlesSL,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are unable to connect the printer to the network.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer and setup the printer again

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
