I’ve sent this feedback through another channel. Anyone else getting sick of being pushed to buy new every year or two so you are always under warranty and can actually get an answer from a person? My printer is 5 years old. I know that is antique from the industries perspective but it still works great so I installed its software on my new iMac mid-April and have used without incident since. One issue though is Scan to computer seems to lose connectivity easily so I’ve had to power on and off often. I tried to scan to computer yesterday and when I got to my computer, I found there was no longer any HP software on it anymore.
I looked for drivers and found HP smart print and it looks like you can configure everything in there but eventually I found I still needed HP easy scan had to start digging on how to enable to scan to computer. I think I’m part way there, as I can see the scan folder I created and set permissions for.
I pretty techy, people come to me for help with their devices and software HP has gotten difficult to deal with. The website seems to have chopped up instructions so you have to search for each piece rather than following a logical trail. Instructions for how to configure scan to network should be all on one page, and complete on one page.
When you have to go numerous places to get a setup process, there is something wrong.. We should be able to get an answer from the company whose product we paid for, rather than hoping a user somewhere figures it out and posts the answer and hope that answer works for our particular situation.
I found instructions to set up a network folder but those instructions say to do something else with no link to instructions and nothing found searching the knowledge base.
I like this printer but I think I’ll investigate other options more from a support and documentation perspective than from a hardware perspective.

For Windows machines, please use the following software
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, for Windows 10:
(a) Hit Win key,
(b) Scroll down to HP group/folder,
(c) Double click "HP Scan Extended"
You can put a shortcut on Taskbar or Desktop
Regards.
