I'm trying your solution now. I've had a heck of a time for the last month+ trying to get my printer to work since it stopped working when my Mac went to OS 11.1.

Keep your fingers crossed...

Thank you!

I have an HP 1512 and I've tried everything in this thread and more, but I can't print on my 2020 MacBook Pro with M1 processor running Big Sur 11.2.3.

Everything else in the HP utility works. I can scan, see ink level, even print an alignment page, but printing a test page has never worked. The print queue always sticks on "Connecting to device".

I have a feeling it's a permissions thing since Big Sur is so locked down. I appreciate any insights. Thank you!

Edit: Thought I could attach screenshots to the post.

It sounds like you may have an old driver giving misdirection to the new server. I get your frustration, I had it as well. That was one of the problems I had, the printers showed up - looked like it would be a go with the green light -- only to turn to a yellow light and nothing. I removed the drivers manually, reinstalled from the Apple site new drivers, and all was well.

BTW, just a note -- everytime Big Sur has updated, it drops my HP LaserJet printer. Last time, I turned the printer on and off and then was happy to see that it was showing up in the preferences. And better yet, it worked.

Worked for my CP3025n Laser Jet Color printer....YEAH.  Running Big Sur 11x.  Got lots of scary error messages, but I had to uninstall the previous driver first or you will continue to get error messages and cannot print.

Printer works fine now.  I wish that Apple would update their OS to be more backwardly compatible.
