Thanks for the reply but it has not worked for me either.

I have tried your other suggestion of installing a generic printer but the output is not good.

Where do I go from here please?

The link to the firmware page does not work

Thanks

Hi @AngelesFdez

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when the printer blocks all activity with the “expired certificate” message, and even the generic driver workaround doesn’t give you good output. You’ve already tried the right steps, so let’s focus on what else can be done to restore proper functionality.

Step 1: Verify Firmware Update Availability

The firmware update is critical because it often contains fixes for certificate handling.
Here is the correct HP support page for your model:
HP Envy Inspire 7200e Printer – Software and Driver Downloads

Download and install the latest Firmware update from this page, then restart the printer.

Step 2: Refresh Certificates Again

  1. Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing its IP address into a browser.
  2. Go to Settings > Security > Certificate Management.
  3. Create a new Self-Signed Certificate with the maximum validity period.
  4. Save and apply changes.
  5. Restart the printer.

Step 3: Reconnect via HP App

  1. Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Remove the printer from the app.
  3. Re-add it using Add Printer > Search by IP Address.
  4. Confirm whether the certificate error clears.

Step 4: Alternative Connection

If the certificate error persists:

  • Try connecting the printer via USB temporarily. This bypasses certificate checks and ensures you can print while troubleshooting the network setup.
  • Once USB printing works, you can retry adding the printer back to Wi‑Fi after firmware and certificate refresh.

Next Step: Please try the firmware update from the link above first, as that’s the most likely fix. Once updated, regenerate the certificate and reconnect through the HP App. If the issue continues, USB printing will at least give you reliable output while waiting for a permanent resolution.
