I have tried downloading the HP EasyStart App, and can't get that to work either

Hi @Kryin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

As of May 27, 2025, HP has officially retired the HP Print and Scan Doctor due to a security vulnerability. If you've been trying to use it or download it, that's why it's no longer working or available.

 Recommended Alternative: HP Smart App

HP now recommends using the HP Smart App, which includes a built-in tool called Diagnose & Fix to help resolve printing and scanning issues.

🔗 Download HP Smart:

📘 How to Use Diagnose & Fix:

  1. Open the HP Smart App.
  2. Click on your printer.
  3. Go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If HP Easy Start isn’t working for you either, it may be due to:

  • Firewall or antivirus is blocking the installer
  • Incomplete previous installations
  • Network issues

If the HP Smart App Still Doesn’t Work

Try these steps:

  1. Uninstall any previous HP software:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
    • Remove HP EasyStartHP Print and Scan Doctor, and any old HP drivers.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Reinstall the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store.
  4. Connect your printer via USB first, then switch to Wi-Fi after setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
