Thanks again, Dragon-Fur, for another superb post.  It's no surprise you were in IT for a long time in another life.

I tried all your suggestions but had no luck.  I clicked into your link for HP Account - Login/Dashboard and got into a much better, detailed summary.  But it only lists my computer and doesn't list either my old printer nor my new printer.  Yet on the HP Support Assistant Dashboard I usually click onto, it shows all three.  So I tried on this usual one and they still ask for the nickname of my old printer.  Do you think that because the old printer isn't showing on the link you provided that it is deleted?  I don't know what's going on.  Maybe it's time for me to "give it a rest" seeing that both my computer and new printer are working great.  Thanks ever so much again, Dragon-Fur.

Edits / Updates

Try the following to remove the "gone and never to return" old printer / device ...

Uninstall the HPSA from your computer > Restart the computer and log in > Install a fresh copy of HPSA

NOTE:

Many machines (computers) are now using the "Application" version of the HPSA from the Store.

Which "type" you have depends on the age and type of your computer.

Read then check / proceed...

Uninstall the HPSA

Select and uninstall the HPSA type you have installed on your computer...

Uninstall HP Support Assistant Software

FIRST

Uninstall the HP Support Assistant program

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Scroll down, find, Uninstall the HP Support Assistant

Important:  When / If asked whether you want to save any presets / personal HPSA information, respond to have your personal data associated with the program removed along with the HPSA software.

NOTE:  If software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and then shows up again, or is otherwise not “going away” when you tell it to do so, try an Uninstaller program.

Microsoft:  Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

Next

Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework software from Programs and Features

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Solutions / Framework

Select (Click) and Uninstall the software

NOTE:

When installed as part of HP Support Assistant software, HP Support Solutions Framework is a subset of HPSA.   For this reason, HPSA must be uninstalled before the Solutions Framework can be removed.

Restart the computer and log in.

================================================================================

Uninstall HPSA Application >> Apps

FIRST

Uninstall the HP Support Assistant Application

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Assistant

Left-Click on the item (HP Support Assistant) > Uninstall

NEXT

OPTIONAL >> Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework software from Programs and Features

     NOTE 1

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Solutions / Framework

If you find a listing for the Solutions software, then

If you wish to do so, HP Support Solutions can be uninstalled, too.

     NOTE 2

If removed, and wanted again later, HP Support Solutions can be reinstalled at Product Home

Select to use “Auto-Detect” to install HP Support Solutions

Left-Click on the application (HP Support Assistant) > Uninstall

Restart the computer and log in.

================================================================================

Final Check – Software / Application is Removed

After the software is uninstalled (and the computer is Restarted), check to ensure the software is actually “gone”.

Settings > Apps > Apps & features

OR

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

If the software / application is found > Click to uninstall

Restart the computer and log in.

Hi Dragon-Fur, I received your Dec 23rd post in my email but haven't been able to access this post on this forum.  Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the help you've given me with regards to my new HP Printer.  It's working great so no problem about deleting my old printer off the HP Support Assistant Dashboard.  Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone. Take care.
