HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw

I can not print PDF files or even my emails, but I can print everything else. I reloaded all the drivers and also installed Acrobat Reader, but no luck. The problem started a day ago.

Hi @Rick6510,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it is when your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw stops printing PDFs and emails, especially when everything else prints just fine. Let's work together to get this resolved smoothly.

1. Print as an Image

Sometimes, printing PDFs as images can bypass certain issues:

  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Go to File > Print.
  • Click on Advanced and check the Print as Image option

2. Update Printer Firmware

Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date:

3. Check Printer Queue

Clear any stuck print jobs:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw and click on Open queue.
  • Clear any stuck print jobs

4. Set as Default Printer

Make sure your printer is set as the default printer:

  • In Printers & scanners, select your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw and click on Set as default.

5. Check PDF Reader Settings

Ensure your PDF reader is up to date and try printing from a different PDF reader to see if the issue persists

6. Reinstall Printer

Remove the printer from Printers & scanners and reinstall it:

  • Go to Add a printer or scanner, find your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw, and add it again

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
