Same problem. Have an LaserJet M234.  I can set it up and computer sees printer fine.  I then immediately try to print and computer can no longer find the printer.  I uninstalled and reinstalled printer several times with same results.  Then one month later it magically it works fine for one document. and then next day it no longer works.  Reinstall the printer, wireless set up works fine, immediately try to print and computer can't find the printer.  I have spent dozens of hours trouble shooting.  I finally gave up and just use a USB cable all the time.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Are you getting any error messages?

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

Running Windows 10 Pro 20H2

At one point I had everything working but I had to usually had to reboot to make sure that the printer was turned on before the computer. After some Windows update, it would not print either way.  Both Windows and the "Smart" application showed both connections (USB and Wireless) as good but all print job would end up in the cue.  I uninstalled and reinstalled using the full installation and wireless didn't work but USB did as long as the the printer was on before the computer.  I tried installing using just windows (the full install  package had been removed) and the the USB was not seen, wireless was but it would not connect.

I actually reinstalled windows to try and fixe and had same problems.  Using the installation in the Smart application It immediately "sees" the printer wirelessly and asks for the WPS code.  Put that in and nothing happens.  If I put it wrong (on purpose) I get a message that it can not connect.  When correct it just running hangs with nothing happening.  Trying to print wirelessly and the print job just stays in the cue.  The "Smart " application shows the printer as connected.  The "smart apps shows USB as not connected.  When trying to force it to connect it it says the driver is out of date.  I reinstall and then it I am stuck in a loop where it keeps saying the driver needs to be updated.

I finally manually connected the printer using the wireless IP address and it works wireless but not by USB.  So far it is working. Over the last 6 months I have spent more than 20 hours (not including the time spent on the Windows reinstall) on trouble shooting this problem.

The printer should be either connected through Wireless or USB.

Both connections will not work at the same time.

If you want to connect with the USB cable, Uninstall and reinstall the printer with the latest drivers.

(Note: Don't connect the USB cable until prompted during the install.)

Here are the steps to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver from the root level.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

I also have a M234dwe. I set it up using the iOS App and it worked fine. I thought I could just unplug it and use it in my office. Of course that didn’t work. Whatever. But now that I brought. It back home, it does not connect to my WiFi. I have tried the troubleshooting from your site/app/YouTube and it will not connect. Please help. I just want to print.
