Hello.  I had to re-install my operating system (Windows 11) and am now re-installing my printer (Color Laser Jet Pro 452dn).  I downloaded the software and drivers from HP (HP_LJ_Pro_M452-PCL_6_v3_Win8plus_Full_Solution-19117) and it began the installation, but at the page to connect the USB cable, after I do that the installation stalls and does not go forward.  The only option is still the "Back" button; there's no "Next" button.

Hi @Stevie4263,

When installing your HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dn printer on Windows 11, encountering a stall at the USB connection stage can be frustrating. Here are several steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  1. Check USB Connections:

    • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected both to the printer and the computer. Use a different USB port on your computer if possible.
    • Avoid using a USB hub; connect the printer directly to the computer's USB port.
  2. Restart the Devices:

    • Disconnect the USB cable, restart your computer and printer, and try the installation again.
  3. Install the Latest Drivers:

    • Ensure that the downloaded driver package is specifically compatible with Windows 11. As operating system support updates regularly, check the HP support page for any updates to the driver.
  4. Disable Firewall/Antivirus:

    • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software during the installation process, as they may interfere with the driver installation.
  5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

    • Download and use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can diagnose and resolve many printer issues. This tool can also verify if the device connection to the computer is recognized correctly.
  6. Manually Add the Printer:

    • If the automatic installation isn't working, try adding the printer manually:
      • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Click Add a printer or scanner and let Windows detect your printer, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. Check Device Manager:

    • Go to Device Manager and check if there are any warnings near your USB controllers or printer devices. You can try uninstalling the printer device from here, then reconnecting to see if it gets detected again.
