I do not need a printer very often but, would now like to use my old HP Deskjet 990Cxi with its double sided printing facility for some low volume printing over the coming months.
I have not tried to set it up using the original CD yet but am concerned that this may not be compatible with my Windows 10 system.
Am I right and, if so, is there a 64 bit version of the software which I can download 🤔
Thanks for any help anybody can offer 👍🏼

Hi @BeeBumble,
I'd like to help!
HP Deskjet 990cxi Printer driver for windows 10 is not available from the HP website However, you can add the printer using windows built-in drivers
NOTE: Some features might not be available, as the printer is not compatible with the OS
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks but, that's the stage that I'm actually at and I was rather hoping that an HP driver might help me address some basic problems I'm having with the printer which seems to go through the complete range of motions suggesting that it is actually printing a test page but, only leaving light traces of ink at what I guess would be the start and ends of each line 😲
Black cartridge is new - a supposedly compatible one - and colour cartridge is old and I guess empty but, when the top is opened, the carriage moves to a point suggesting that there's something wrong with the black cartridge 😮
Yeah, I know, I understand that you might prefer me to use an HP cartridge but, these things always worked well in the dim and distant past when I was printing more often and I'm now just a bit miffed that it's not working now - with its double-sided capability, it was a bit special all those years ago and it seems a shame to have to give up on her now when I once again really need her 😥
Is there any diagnostic software or , maybe, even just a set of instructions which might help get to the bottom of and, hopefully, resolve this problem 🤔
Thanks for your time and help
Pete

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
As informed earlier, HP does not have drivers available for your printer, we do not have tools that are compatible with your printer to remedy the situation.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
