Had an update auto-install yesterday, the new interface requires a PIN for every scan. The previous Printer software worked fine, how do I roll back this update? Control Panel doesn't even show the printer.

Hi @GeorgeM721,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for reaching out.
Could you confirm where the PIN request appears when you select Scan, and share the exact wording or a screenshot with any personal information hidden?
If the prompt asks for the printer PIN, this is normally the printer’s security PIN, not a PIN that must be newly created for every scan. Check for a label inside the cartridge-access area or printer door. Enter the PIN exactly as printed, including any leading zeros.
Please also try resetting the printer connection in the HP app:
- Open the HP app.
- Remove the HP DeskJet 2734e from the app.
- Close the HP app completely.
- Restart the printer and the computer.
- Make sure the computer and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Reopen the HP app and select Add printer.
- Sign in to the HP account previously used with the printer.
- Add the printer again, and then test Scan.
It is normal for the printer not to appear in the older Control Panel > Devices and Printers view if Windows or the HP app added the printer using a modern Windows printing connection. Check Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners instead.
If the printer is missing there:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Wait for the HP DeskJet 2700 series to appear.
- Add the printer and test again.
The HP DeskJet 2734e supports Windows 11, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth-assisted setup, and USB 2.0 connectivity.
We do not recommend attempting to roll back the Microsoft Store app at this stage, as the Store does not normally provide a supported option to install an earlier HP app version. First, please confirm whether the prompt is requesting:
- The printer PIN from the label
- The Windows sign-in PIN
- The HP account password
- A verification code
Please share a screenshot of the PIN prompt with all private information hidden. Once we know which PIN is being requested, we can provide the correct next step without unnecessarily resetting or reinstalling the printer.
Please also note that HP Print and Scan Doctor is no longer maintained, and HP recommends removing it because of potential security risks, so it should not be used for this issue.
Take care and have an amazing day!
I'm an HP Employee.
