Hi @Dmgettleman,
here's what you need to do:
- Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
- You must be logged in with an admin account. If not, first restart the computer and then use your admin account.
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
- Please note: WLAN has to be deactivated!
- download only this complete package: HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories
- Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE
- The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the PC again
- Now the installation is complete.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards

Thank you. I was able to reset printer and reload the software. I am still having the same problem that caused me to reload. I have my "Disable HP Cartridge Protection" set to "OFF" (see below), but when I load a non HP cartridge, I get the message on the printer "Non-HP chip Detected". Can you help me with this?

Use a cartridge with a HP chip.
