Hi everyone.

I have a rather unusual situation. I found an HP Envy 6030e printer on the street (this is quite common in Spain), and when I tried to set it up, I discovered that HP+ is still activated and linked to the previous owner’s account.

As far as I understand, HP+ cannot be removed by a new user without the original owner or HP Support. I tried contacting HP Support, but the website says support is not available in my country, and the only option I see is a phone number in Spanish, which I unfortunately don’t speak well yet.

That’s why I’m posting here — hoping the community or moderators can clarify whether there is any legitimate way to resolve this situation, or if the printer is permanently locked.

I’ve already read HP’s policy and understand that removal may not be possible, but I still wanted to ask in case there is any official solution.

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Hi @cris6702,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you found an HP Envy 6030e and it is locked with HP+ linked to a previous owner’s account. Let’s go through a few points to clarify why this happens and what options realistically exist.

Understand what HP+ does
HP+ permanently links the printer to the original HP account used during first activation.
This link survives factory resets, network resets, and firmware updates.

Confirm that resets will not remove HP+
Restoring defaults, resetting network settings, or reinstalling firmware does not remove HP+.
This is expected behavior and not a fault with the printer.

Why the printer appears “locked”
HP+ is a cloud-based entitlement tied to ownership verification.
Without the original account, the printer cannot be re-claimed by a new user.

Requirement for removal or transfer
HP+ can only be removed if the original owner releases the printer from their HP account

I hope this helps.

Hi! Thank you for the reply! Is it possible to remove HP+ through the support team? I've contacted them, but as I don't speak Spanish very well - it was quite hard to understand. They've told that the english support will contact me. Before that they were also telling me smth about changing the cartridges. Is it possible that changing the cartridges could help to revoke HP+?
