I have sold my printer after un enrolling my  Instant ink account. I can’t delete my device from my account because I keep getting a message saying I must cancel my instant ink subscription first, which I’ve already done. I have sold the printer and they can’t use it because it’s still in my name. What can I do?

Hi @Scooter-12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To remove a sold HP printer still linked to your Instant Ink account, you must wait for the current billing cycle to end, as cancellation is not immediate. Log in to hpsmart.com, confirm the "Cancel Enrollment" step, and then use the "Remove Printer" option under account settings to remove it from your device list.

  • Remove from HP Smart: Go to hpsmart.com, sign in, click on the Printers tab, select the printer, and choose Remove Printer.
  • Remove Web Services: If the printer is still locked, you may need to disable Web Services on the printer's physical menu by navigating to Settings > Web Service Settings > Remove Web Services

Note: Instant Ink cartridges will not work in the printer once the account is fully canceled.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

I'm an HP Employee.
