I cancelled my Instant Ink Subscriptions from 2 printers. I removed Instant Ink Cartirdges and installed HP Cartridges. I need instructions on how to remove. It is a complete NIGHTMARE to enable my printer to print again. Restore to factory settings, reconnect to Wifi etc. Where are detailed instructions to do this without having to spend 30+ minutes with a live rep???? Note to others, it is RIDICULOUS what you need to go thru to get your printer to work after you cancel your subscription....HP doesn't mke it easy and tell you the nightmare it becomes....

HI @gbshore,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with issues after canceling an Instant Ink subscription. To remove your printer from the HP Instant Ink account and get it back to regular printing, you’ll need to follow a few steps. Here’s a detailed guide to help you through the process without the need for a live representative:
1. Remove Printer from HP Instant Ink Account
Log In to Your HP Instant Ink Account:
- Go to the HP Instant Ink website and log in with your account credentials.
Access Printer Management:
- Navigate to the Printers section or a similar option in your account dashboard.
Select the Printer:
- Find the printer(s) you’ve canceled the subscription for.
Remove the Printer:
- There should be an option to remove or unregister the printer from your Instant Ink account. Select this option and follow the prompts to complete the process.
2. Replace Instant Ink Cartridges with HP Cartridges
Turn On the Printer:
- Ensure your printer is powered on.
Open the Printer’s Cartridge Access Door:
- This will usually be the front or top cover of the printer.
Remove Instant Ink Cartridges:
- Carefully remove the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer.
Install Regular HP Cartridges:
- Unpack the new HP cartridges and install them into the printer. Make sure they click into place and are properly seated.
3. Reset Printer Settings
Access Printer Settings:
- Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the settings menu. This is often accessible via a Setup, Settings, or Tools option.
Restore Factory Settings:
- Look for an option labeled Restore Defaults, Factory Reset, or Reset All Settings. Follow the on-screen prompts to restore the printer to its default settings.
Confirm Reset:
- Confirm that you want to reset the printer. This will clear any old settings related to Instant Ink and other configurations.
4. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi
Open Wireless Setup Menu:
- Go to the printer’s control panel and select the wireless or network setup option.
Choose Wireless Setup Wizard:
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard or a similar option to start the process of connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
Select Your Network:
- Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
Enter Wi-Fi Password:
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted and confirm the connection.
Verify Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can print a network configuration page to verify the connection.
5. Reinstall Printer Drivers (if necessary)
Download Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
Install Drivers:
- Run the downloaded driver installation file and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer with the new drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
